Nineteen of the Russian's 21 victories have been achieved on hardcourt
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his maiden championship for 882 days with victory over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.
The athlete, a former world number one, has had a difficult year, winning just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a setback at the American major.
His varied form on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in specific - resulted in him exiting of the elite rankings and finally splitting with long-time coach Gilles Cervara.
Now working with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily improved in the last few weeks - culminating in a closely contested competitive win over Frenchman Moutet.
It is Medvedev's initial title since the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard surface from March of 2023.
Victory also means he has achieved twenty-one victories at 21 different tournaments.
"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my two daughters together, so to secure a trophy is especially meaningful," commented world number 14 the champion.
"This championship is in tribute of my second daughter her name, because the maiden victory I achieved when my child Alisa was born was for her."
Medvedev, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six finals, including in the German tournament in the past months.
Medvedev's counter-punching approach and frequent reactions on the playing surface had prompted observers to wonder if his capacity to compete at the top level was finished.
However the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, making an effort to approach the net and compete assertively, backed up by an better service.
The champion came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging opponent, securing four of the concluding five exchanges to take the lead.
The competitors traded break points in the following set before the challenger, bidding for his first professional victory, took control to push for a decider.
He rescued 4 early-game chances in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev won the break to 15 to secure the win.
Fittingly, he secured victory with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman failing to control a return after over two and a half hours.
